Shift Mental Focus With A Few Of My Favorite Things

05/09/07 08:06 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
I wrote a post earlier about the power of thought in Formula To Getting Results. In the post I wrote about how to overcome overwhelming negative thoughts by taking a time out and focusing on good thoughts.

jandrews
Just for fun I wanted to share with you what popped into my mind as I wrote that post earlier today. I thought of Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music. Specifically, I was thinking of that song she sang during the storm "My Favorite Things". It brought a smile to my face, because I really loved that movie as a child.

And now thinking about it again, that song has a great tip about how to shift your focus from negative thoughts to positive ones. Just think of some of your favorite things or if you want, sing it! Change the original lyrics to suit your own list of favorite things.

Here is the original lyrics for those fans of The Sound of Music. Enjoy

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

Attract What You Will

12/08/07 12:59 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction | LOASGR.COM Articles
As Featured On Ezine Articles
To use the Law of Attraction, not only do you have to be aware of your predominant thoughts; but you must also build the ability to filter out the unsupportive ones through a shift of mental focus.

As a human being you are blessed with the ability to use your will. And it is your will that allows you to decide what thoughts you give attention.

The following is a Q&A session where I share with you the critical role that your will plays in attracting your desires.

What is the purpose of the will?

First I think it is important to define what is meant by will. In this context, the will is your ability to focus on a particular thought or task regardless of what is going on around you or within you.

Its role in the Law of Attraction is to help you keep your thoughts and actions targeted and consistent.

Why is that important?

It's important because, we are constantly being bombarded by external influences. A large majority of these influences are negative.

When your thoughts and behavior are impacted by negative influences. The signal you send out to the universe changes and derails your efforts to receive what is coming to you from the universe.

That is when your will comes in. To get you back on track to attracting and receiving what it is you want.

What are we suppose to focus our will on?

In your journey to attract what you want. You will become aware of the right things to think and do. You must then use your will to compel yourself to think those right things and do those right things.

It requires effort to keep your thoughts fixed on your desired end result. But the additional challenge is the ability to do that continuously, especially in bad situations and for prolonged periods of time. That effort requires enormous amounts of will.

Does using the will attract the things you want faster?

Instead of faster I think it would be better to say more efficiently. But yes through proper use of your will. You will be more efficient in attracting what you want.

By using your will to filter out negative and unwanted thoughts, your message to the universe will be clearer. By exercising your will continuously you provide the universe with a steady and consistent message.

Both of which allows the universe to answer your desires in a more effective manner.

What would you recommend to develop strong will?

I feel a good place to start would be to ask yourself if you have strong faith and purpose in what it is you want. Application of your will becomes more effective if you do.

I would also tell you to avoid people or materials with any negative and uncomplimentary comments towards your desire(s). Expose yourself to materials that are in harmony with your vision on a daily basis.

And ultimately, your faith in the law itself would be key. That you realize beyond a doubt, regardless of what is going on around you, which is seemingly bad, what you are thinking is being attracted towards you.

Top 10 Reasons Why You Just Messed Up The Law Of Attraction

21/07/07 02:05 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction | LOASGR.COM Articles
As Featured On Ezine Articles
You have just learnt about The Law of Attraction. You are genuinely really excited because for the first time you see a solution for improving your life and getting what you want.

So you whole-heartedly throw yourself into it. You get yourself a vision board and start visualizing the stuff that you want. Then after a few days or weeks you start to wonder, “Hey wait a minute. Is this working? Where is my stuff? Why isn’t it here yet?”

If you have been experiencing thoughts like this, the following list is a collection of common issues that people fall into when they first begin to use The Law of Attraction.

1. You Are Not Profoundly And Consistently Grateful

Gratitude is perhaps the most important factor in using the Law of Attraction. It is the means of communicating your desires to the universe.

A suggestion I have to help you achieve profound and consistent gratitude is to start a DAILY gratitude journal. In the evenings, just think about your day and simply list down everything you were grateful for.

Reflect upon it, get into that feeling of gratitude and do it EVERYDAY. Your line of communication to the universe will improve.

2. You Are Not Clear On Exactly What You Want

Being unclear by saying “I want my life to be better” or “I want more money” doesn’t work. You must see what you want vividly in your mind.

So lets assume you want more money. Write down a note with A) The details of the “more money”, the exact amount, type of money, currency. B) The date when you want to receive the money. C) What value you are giving in return for that money. D) Put it in the present tense and have “I am so happy and grateful now that” before it.

Looking like – I am so happy and grateful now that I receive an additional US$1,500 of rental income per month, which was first received on the 1st of August 2007, for renting out my studio apartment on Chester Street.

3. You’re Using The Law With A “I Will Give It A Try” Attitude

It is important to understand why you are feeling this way. For the most part I think it is because people are fearful. That if it doesn’t work, you are able to rationalize why. Which in this case would be “Hey I didn’t really try, that’s why it didn’t work”.

Build up your faith by better understanding how the Law of Attraction works. You can also read testimonials of others using the law successfully. Better understanding will move you forward more confidently.

4. You Have Some Old Baggage

When you begin to use the law you will experience different degrees of mental friction. This is normal because it takes time to adopt new thought patterns.

Immerse yourself in materials on the law. Read books on the topic. Listen to relevant audio CDs. Watch DVDs about the Law of Attraction. Then start by attracting things that cause you less mental friction. Once you begin to habituate improved thought patterns and your confidence grows, attraction becomes easier.

5. You Want It So, So Bad

You don’t want to become so “INTO” getting the “Thing” that you want, that you become desperate and frustrated in the process. The attraction of what you want is supposed to be a wonderful and joyous experience.

Put your thoughts of what you want out there. Then remember to be calm and relaxed. Your state of mind should be similar to that of being in love. You can’t see it or touch it. But you can feel it and you know it’s there.

6. You Are Taking The Wrong Kind Of Action

The wrong kind of action is where you are forcing an action to move forward. By forcing it you are showing a lack of faith in the law. Don’t rush it. Whatever you want is coming to you always. And it will come at the right time for you.

The correct type of action will feel right to you. It is as if a “Light Bulb” went off and you just had that “Eureka” moment. It will feel quite natural and effortless. Follow your intuition towards the correct action required.

7, 8, & 9. You Forgot To Be Grateful

Yup, gratitude is pretty important. And deserves 3 spots on the list as a reminder because it is common to be so caught up during the day to forget to be grateful sometimes.

One exercise you can do at any time is just focus on an item in your immediate surrounding. Say you are in your car and you focus on the traffic light. Mentally just list how grateful you are about it, “It keeps traffic in order, it helps keeps me safe”. Then jump to another item and do the same, say the road, “it helps me get to destinations, I get to where I want faster” etc.

This knock-on gratitude affect really lifts your spirits. And you will be surprised at what you will be grateful about.

10. You Are Not Enjoying The Journey

Whatever time it takes to attract what you want there will be a journey. It will hold good, great, bad and maybe even really bad times. But what is important overall is that you enjoy the journey.

It is easy enough to enjoy the good times. But how do you appreciate the bad times. First understand without the bad times you would not be able to recognize and/or appreciate the good times. So they are necessary.

Realize a bad thing can also lead you forward. Say to yourself “ok bad thing, what are you here to teach me?” Identify that lesson, learn from it and move on. When you do, you move forward as a stronger individual and most definitely a step closer to what you want. And that is something to be happy about.

Law of Attraction Lessons From The Pursuit of Happyness

19/07/07 04:11 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
Whatever you are looking to attract there will be a road that you follow. Some of it will be good and some of it bumpy. I really like this post because it shows how one man's faith and desire for what he knows he deserves have kept him on that road.

It is a great movie.

Here is Edward Mills take on it:

My wife and I finally watched the movie, The Pursuit of Happyness on Saturday night.
If you have not yet seen it, I highly recommend it to all Deliberate Creators. There are many valuable Law of Attraction lessons in this film.

Perhaps the most important is Chris Gardner’s (Will Smith) faith in the future he knows is possible and his unwavering determination to attain it no matter what challenges he faces along the way.

Often, in my own work with the Law of Attraction, and in my observation of others, I notice a tendency to question our intentions or pull back from our desires when the going gets rough.

So much of the teaching around the Law of Attraction focuses on ease and grace. And while I believe that a life of ease and grace is absolutely possible, I also know that on the way there, we are going to hit some bumps in the road.

But because the Law of Attraction teachings focus so much on the ease and grace it can be very tempting, when the journey gets a bit bumpy, to wonder what we are doing wrong and why the Law of Attraction is not working.

The Law of Attraction never stops working. And we are not doing anything wrong. But in those times when the path gets steep or you seem to lose your way, it is more important than ever to remember the vision, the goal, the intention towards which you are moving.

It almost feels as if we are being tested along the way, being asked, “are you SURE you really want this?”

Every time we say “Yes, I really want this,” and take a determined step forward, the Universe responds with more resources.

But every time we question and doubt. Every time we wonder, “do I really want this?” Every time we hesitate or turn back, the Universe must respond by pull those resources back. It has no choice: That is how Law of Attraction works.

Like attracts like. And the level of your determination and focus and enthusiasm determines the level of support the Universe can provide for you.

So in those times when the path seems difficult and you are questioning yourself, see if you can pull up enough energy to say “yes” just one more time.

And then, maybe just once more after that…

And if you want some inspiration in this area, go watch The Pursuit of Happyness.

Good Vibrations - Getting Them and Keeping Them

19/06/07 05:18 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
You know some of the things we do everyday can really impact how we feel and determine what we are attracting to ourselves. We need to have feeling great and being positive a habitual part of us.

Of course there are going to be days that really shock your system and put you in such a mood. I found a post that gives some sound advice on how to get your vibe back and keep them that way.

Post written by Shauna from breathingprosperity.com, see below for an excerpt:

  • Remember that you are always at CHOICE. Any time you experience an emotion or reaction that does not represent your highest vision of yourself or that goes against your intentions, first accept that you are human and that this is normal and OK. Then, use your personal power and do whatever it takes to get yourself out of the funk. This decision, above all the other steps, is what will make the biggest difference to your happiness and vibrations level on a daily basis.

  • Know what triggers you - both negative and postive. You can then try and avoid the negative when possible, and can use the positive ‘triggers’ to help you bounce back when you are feeling less than stellar.

  • Get back to basics. For many people, including me, there are simple things that always make them feel better. Whether it’s comfort food, calling a trusted friend, or spending time in natural surroundings, take good care of yourself both every day, and when you feel out of sorts.

  • Get moving. Exercise is one of the best - and quickest - ways I know of to feel great. Physical activity is sooo good for us on so many levels, both physically and mentally. Put on your sneakers and go for a walk if you do nothing else. Your body - and your cleared mind - will thank you! Then do it again tomorrow…

  • Don’t define yourself by your past choices - even those of five minutes ago. If you are feeling guilty for falling off the bandwagon - whether it’s quitting smoking, eating healthy, exercising or any goal you are working on - remember that your next choice can get you back on track. Focus on what are doing well, and keep going. No one is a robot and we all slip now and then…just keep going! Persistence is what makes for winning achievement, AND for high vibrations. As soon as you are back on track, you will feel great again, and that is what this is all about!

Positive Affirmations

13/06/07 12:46 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
Positive affirmations are words or phrases which are said again and again to AFFIRM a single thought about yourself. I believe they are an important regimen in re-programming limiting and negative beliefs that you have developed in the course of your life.

When I think back over my life I can list down several limiting and negative beliefs about different aspects of my life.

How do they appear?

T. Harv Eker talks about it as part of his seminars on financial blue print. I believe the same can be applied for various aspects of your life.

He talks about 3 sources where your programming comes from:

  • Verbal - The verbal stuff that has been going into your head from your parents, teachers, religious teachers etc. A favorite example about money would be the phrase "do you think money grows on trees"

  • Modelling - The behavioral patterns that you mirror from people over the years. For example I have adopted a combination of habits from my parents

  • Specific Incidents - Incidents in life that have reinforced certain programming. Bob Proctor shared an example. Imagine children that would be punished in school for day dreaming and imagining. This type of conditioning would limit the creativity of these children later in life as adults

As you go through these things over and over again in your life they become beliefs that you hold about your reality i.e. relationships, weight, love, money.

To re-program your self you need to undo the conditioning by coming up with new beliefs that you want to have in your life.

Positive affirmations are the way to do that. I use affirmations everyday. Usually in the morning as I wake up and just before I go to bed at night. I also find myself using them during the day whenever I find spare time. For example at a traffic light while waiting for the light to go green I say a few affirmations.

Now the important thing about this is that you FEEL the words. As with visualizations you connect with the words in a positive way. Because it is this feeling that drives the new programming into your mind.

Some of my favorite affirmations which I use everyday are:

  • I am so happy and grateful now that money comes to me easily and frequently, in increasing quantities, from multiple sources, everyday

  • I am so happy and grateful now that I have wonderful family and friends that love me, trust me, and want me to do well

  • I am so happy and grateful now that I think only positively

  • I am so happy and grateful now that I am ready to receive all that I want

I have followed Bob Proctor's tips of the tips on creating affirmations, which include making it in the present tense and having the words "I am happy and grateful now that" to come before each new programming.

Avoid Negative Thinking - Choose to be Positive

13/06/07 12:07 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
I really liked the article below because it articulates well the process in which you need to become more positive.

What I have realized is that we choose to think the negative thoughts that creep into our minds. It has become a pattern triggered by some event, thought etc.

By the same token we can choose to think positive thoughts. We can do this by virtue of the fact that we have the ability to use our will to focus on a particular thought.

We need to exercise our will to think positive thoughts. How do we know when to do this? It is when we become aware of negative thoughts. We then must begin to shift our focus from those negative thoughts to positive ones.

And you will find the more you are able to do this, it becomes easier to do. Just as your muscles become stronger as you use them so does your will.

See below for the article by Chad Tackett:

Negative self-talk is a destructive habit and part of an essential defense mechanism that we often develop to protect ourselves. Many people end up talking themselves out of actions that may be scary or uncomfortable. "I can't do this" is really just a way of saying "I don't want to deal with the experience of doing this." We are all strongly influenced by our feelings, often determining how and what action we ultimately take. If the feeling is uncomfortable, negative self-talk results; then we often decide not to take any action at all.

Tried and Failed

Many people assume that if a past experience produced a certain result, there is nothing they can do to change that experience in order to produce a different result. "I've tried every diet there is. I know what I should do; I just can't do it."

Please understand that you can make the choice not to repeat old patterns of eating, non-exercise, and negative thinking.

New Positive AffirmationsHow to Form Thoughts and Words To Succeed in All Things.FocusYourMindonHappiness.com
You have the ability to choose the emotions you have. If you don't like feeling guilty, frustrated, or doubtful, you can choose not to. You, and no one else, must decide what is comfortable for you. In order to become successful at making healthy choices, you must avoid negative self-talk and start practicing positive thinking.

Self-Talk

Positive or negative self-talk plays a big part in your decisions. Be on the "look-out for negative self-talk and notice how it influences your choices; notice how it can negatively affect your efforts to change. For example, perhaps you've just returned from a week's vacation where you took a break from exercise and low-fat eating. You tell yourself, "I feel so fat. I'm back where I started." You feel guilty and frustrated. "I don't have enough will-power to start all over again. Maybe I'm just meant to be overweight." Feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, you give up.

Reflect and Re-think

First, reflect on the feelings you had before you decided to give up. You basically told yourself that the healthy habits you learned before your vacation were all for nothing and that you have to start over. Ask yourself if these feelings are reasonable. Are you really back to ground zero? Of course not. You accepted change and developed a new way of living; these skills are yours forever. The vacation might even have done you some good: everyone needs a break sometimes. Otherwise, you might have felt deprived and not really enjoyed yourself.

It's time now to tell yourself: "It felt good eating whatever I wanted and taking a break from exercising; I had a great time. But now I'm going to focus back on the low-fat, active lifestyle I was enjoying before vacation. There is no reason to beat myself up; I'll just take it one day at a time." Now you can rethink your previous decision and take action that will move you forward towards more positive change.

As you begin to understand your reasons for negative self-talk, you'll find yourself recognizing it more and more quickly after it occurs. Eventually, as you practice, you'll be able to recognize and stop negative self-talk before it interferes with your decisions.

Practice, Practice, Practice

It is very important to practice positive thinking and to remind yourself that you're a worthwhile person whatever you do. Try to consistently acknowledge that you are making positive changes to improve your health. You should be proud of yourself. Visualize yourself as capable, happy, and confident. These positive feelings will help the process of change.

Remember, there are bound to be times when you're feeling frustrated or depressed. Positive thinkers know that these feelings are valid, and they don't try to ignore them. Positive thinkers acknowledge and try to understand them, but they don't blame themselves for the conditions that lead to these feelings. Good luck, stay positive, and enjoy all the wonderful benefits of a healthy lifestyle!
