How Long Should I Visualize For, And How Often?

19/08/07 06:41 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
Hi All,

One of the tools in the Law of Attraction is visualization and I came across this post on the topic. It is a post based on teachings from Esther Hicks. It shares how long we should spend visualizing and how often.

From The Science of Getting Rich I knew that we are to spend as much of our leisure time contemplating our vision in earnest gratitude, and this is reflected in the post below. But the post goes on to share the necessary time required for a visualization to be connected with the universe, 68 seconds.

Personally, I find myself visualizing as often as 3 to 4 times a day for about 3 to 5 minutes per session. I don't have a fixed time when I do it, I just start whenever I feel I have a few minutes and/or when I feel I need a pick me up for the day.

Here is the post:

Esther Hicks, in the original version of The Secret, wrote a book with her husband Jerry, Ask and It Is Given, and they state:

“Within 17 seconds of focusing on something, a matching vibration becomes activated. And now, as that focus becomes stronger and the vibration becomes clearer, the Law of Attraction will bring to you more thoughts that match. At this point, the vibration will not have much attraction power, but if you maintain your focus longer, the power of the vibration will become further-reaching. And if you manage to stay purely focused upon any thought for as little as 68 seconds, the vibration is powerful enough that its manifestation begins.”

The power of 68 seconds is quite grand. According to the Abraham-Hicks channeling:

17 seconds = 2,000 hours of action taken
34 seconds = 20,000 hours of action taken
51 seconds = 200,000 hours of action taken
68 seconds = 2,000,000 hours of action taken

Then Abraham-Hicks also states:

“Who would want to bang things into place, when they know that they can spend 68 seconds and have the universe do it for them? Nobody, yet it is what the majority of you do. You would rather jump into action than do your 68 seconds. You would rather jump into action than align up your energy."

I would recommend visualizing at least daily, and when ever you have a spare minute-and-a-half to mentally live your dream. Your goal is to keep your focus on “living in your mind” what you want for 68 seconds or greater without interruption. If you cannot keep your focus that long to begin, that’s alright, do not give up. Like a muscle, your mind will grow stronger with more exercising.

Can You Use Law of Attraction to Attract a Specific Person Into Your Life?

19/07/07 04:28 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction | Relationships
This is a great post from Erin Pavlina.

I feel there is a certain amount of specifics that is required in order to attract what you want. It is so that the universe knows what to deliver to you.

But she brings up a very good point that you cannot be specific about a) a person's actions i.e. to attract someone specific. This is because they have their own intentions. And b) how the universe is going to deliver what you want to you, so be open.

Read her post:

I frequently receive emails from people who want to attract specific people into their lives. Recently, someone wrote to me wanting to attract an ex-boyfriend back into her life. She felt they were meant to be together and she wanted to use the law of attraction to manifest him back into her life. Here is part of what she wrote to me:

"Is there any way to attract a specific person to call or come back into your life? Everyone else seems to say this is impossible with the law of attraction. What do you say? Is it futile? What if this is truly something I want to attract?"

Since I get asked variations on this question I thought it would be good to address it in a blog entry. This is what I wrote back to her:

"When you want someone to do something, that is not law of attraction. When you want something for yourself that you are hoping will come from a specific person that is law of attraction with limits. When you decide that you want a loving relationship and that you are open to receiving it any way the universe wants to bring it to you then that’s law of attraction and being a vibrational match for it.

Because another person is involved and this person has his own intentions you cannot control what he will do, and you cannot ask the universe to force someone to feel a certain way about you.

Now, that is not to say that he will not come back into your life. It could actually happen that way. But you can’t ask the universe to bring you a certain person. That’s like black magic or mind control in the sense that you are asking the universe to make something happen. What you really want to do is open yourself to receive a loving relationship and prepare yourself to receive that love. What if the universe is trying to send you the perfect guy and you are insisting it be this other one?"

Besides love, people often try to use the law of attraction to manifest something very specific when what they really should do is be open. Sometimes being specific prevents you from getting what you really want. For example, people often ask me how they can use the law of attraction to win the lottery. I ask them if they want to win the lottery or have a lot of money. They usually say they just want to be rich. To which I reply, “Well, surely the lottery is one way to accomplish that, but by trying to manifest a lottery win you are blocking the universe from bringing you money some other way.” When you decide in advance how something must manifest for you then you close the door on other ways it can manifest. Why do that? Keep all your options open. Let the universe figure out the how, you just figure out the why.

The why is the most important part of the law of attraction because that’s what makes you a vibrational match for your desire. The “what” part is easy. I want money. I want time. I want to relax. I want a loving relationship. I want a good meal. That’s like looking at the menu at the restaurant of life and deciding what you want to eat. But the why is like handing your money to the cashier and getting a receipt. That’s what puts you in vibrational harmony with your desire. Without the cash it’s just thinking out loud. In my experience, if you don’t have a clear enough “why” then your intention probably won’t manifest.

When you find yourself crafting an intention make sure you are not trying to decide how it will manifest. Be open to any and all ways that the universe might bring your desire to you. Then start looking for signs that your order is on its way.

Law of Attraction Lessons From The Pursuit of Happyness

19/07/07 04:11 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
Whatever you are looking to attract there will be a road that you follow. Some of it will be good and some of it bumpy. I really like this post because it shows how one man's faith and desire for what he knows he deserves have kept him on that road.

It is a great movie.

Here is Edward Mills take on it:

My wife and I finally watched the movie, The Pursuit of Happyness on Saturday night.
If you have not yet seen it, I highly recommend it to all Deliberate Creators. There are many valuable Law of Attraction lessons in this film.

Perhaps the most important is Chris Gardner’s (Will Smith) faith in the future he knows is possible and his unwavering determination to attain it no matter what challenges he faces along the way.

Often, in my own work with the Law of Attraction, and in my observation of others, I notice a tendency to question our intentions or pull back from our desires when the going gets rough.

So much of the teaching around the Law of Attraction focuses on ease and grace. And while I believe that a life of ease and grace is absolutely possible, I also know that on the way there, we are going to hit some bumps in the road.

But because the Law of Attraction teachings focus so much on the ease and grace it can be very tempting, when the journey gets a bit bumpy, to wonder what we are doing wrong and why the Law of Attraction is not working.

The Law of Attraction never stops working. And we are not doing anything wrong. But in those times when the path gets steep or you seem to lose your way, it is more important than ever to remember the vision, the goal, the intention towards which you are moving.

It almost feels as if we are being tested along the way, being asked, “are you SURE you really want this?”

Every time we say “Yes, I really want this,” and take a determined step forward, the Universe responds with more resources.

But every time we question and doubt. Every time we wonder, “do I really want this?” Every time we hesitate or turn back, the Universe must respond by pull those resources back. It has no choice: That is how Law of Attraction works.

Like attracts like. And the level of your determination and focus and enthusiasm determines the level of support the Universe can provide for you.

So in those times when the path seems difficult and you are questioning yourself, see if you can pull up enough energy to say “yes” just one more time.

And then, maybe just once more after that…

And if you want some inspiration in this area, go watch The Pursuit of Happyness.

What Are You Really Attracting?

30/06/07 08:45 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
Many people try their hand at the law of attraction and then give up after putting forward minimal effort and investing little time, and then say, “Well, I tried that law of attraction stuff and it just does not work. I think it is just a crock of —-.” However, they fail to realize that they need to be patient and also that in order for the law of attraction to work properly, they will need generate positive energy.

So, in other words, you may be the reason that the law of attraction techniques you are implementing are not working at their optimum. What does this mean? Well, ask yourself this question, “What am I REALLY attracting?”

If you sit around all day bemoaning everything that you feel is not going your way or is negative in your life, then that is where all your energy is focused. Your are focusing on the negative in life, thereby not giving the positive any chance to flow into your life. You attract whatever it is that you focus on the most in life. This is just the universal law of attraction at work.

So, in order for you to REALLY unleash the full power of the law of attraction, you must focus your energies on the positive. Unfortunately, this is going to be the most difficult part of understanding how the law of attraction works for most people.

The rules of attraction simply state that you will attract the object/s of your focus. If this means overcoming past hurts and negatives in your life, then, by all means, deal with that emotional baggage and let it go. The law of attraction is about being accountable. You are accountable for all the negativity that you allow to hinder your desires. You MUST let go in order for the goals you desire to be within your grasp.

So ask, yourself the question again, “What am I REALLY attracting?”

The Law of Attraction And Family Relationships No Longer A Secret

25/06/07 05:49 PM Filed in: Relationships | Law of Attraction
Here is a good read on relationships by Georgie Maddison:

More science… the Law of Attraction and family relationships is no longer a secret. Researchers at Yale University have blown its anonymity.

"… only a small fraction of how people gauge their partners’ responsiveness to their needs is based on what the partners do. Most of it is based on what they themselves do and feel," say Margaret Clark, faculty author and psychology professor, and co-authors Edward Lemay and Brooke Feeney.

“In studies of marriage we’ve found that what people report they do for their partners is a better predictor of what they think their spouse does for them than are the spouse’s own reports of what was done,” they said.

In other words, as proponents of the universal law of attraction have maintained for centuries, and speakers in the movie DVD The Secret re-popularised again last year, you get what you ask for.

If your partner is a louse, odds are you are, too. If s/he is the most caring, inspiring soul alive, s/he's probably second only to you.

Clark calls this 'projection of responsiveness'. In essence, "you see your partner as about as responsive to your welfare as you are to your partner’s welfare, regardless of the partner’s true behavior,” Clark said.

Interestingly, exercise physiologists see parallels in this behavior within the individual. And this may be a whole new tack for relationship counselors to ponder.

If you've ever developed a strong motivation to start exercising, yet seen the drive to actually do it fizzle within days or weeks, you can probably relate to this.

Think also about how your relationship is now compared with how you would like it to be.

The key is separating the notions of 'motivation' and 'drive'.

Motivation is primarily a cognitive, or mental process. You decide you need to exercise. Drive - acting on the decision reached through motivation - is primarily an emotional process. You actually have to do the exercise.

Exercise time comes, you feel a bit down, leave the session until 'tomorrow'… and you know just how long the resolution lasts. Ditto New Year's resolutions, and relationship improvements.

The law of attraction, 'the secret', is to decide what you want, believe you will get it as surely as you get what you order in a restaurant, and then - just as you probably do in a restaurant - accept delivery of that order.

How do you do that? You emotionally pre-live receipt of that order… involving all the relevant senses including salivation.

Now, relate that back to your relationship. What are you asking for, and what expectations are you pre-living?

The Yale researchers said they conducted the studies because "an essential feature of the health and well-being of a mutual communal relationship is believing that one’s partner cares about one’s welfare and will attend and respond to one’s desires, needs, and goals".

"Not only do people who care about their partners perceive that their partners in turn care about them, they become more satisfied with their relationship over time," they said.

So they pre-live the emotions they want from the relationship. In fact, so intensely do we pre-live them, that we make them our normal behavior, with full emotional involvement. We establish our own 'norm', reflecting out the behavior we want in return.

In other words, w e utilize the Law of Attraction.

Be warned, however, that just like the Law of Gravity, the Law of Attraction is neutral. No good, no bad. It just is. Ask and you shall receive. Give out bad vibes, get back bad vibes. Give out good vibes, get back good vibes. Just as the Yale study found.

“Sadly, the flip side is true too,” Clark said. “Those who are uncaring believe their apathy is reciprocated, which undermines their satisfaction.”

Armed with that powerful insight, how are you going to approach your family, your lover, your partner, your workmates next time you see them?

I like that old truism… point your finger at someone else, and notice how many fingers are pointing back at you.

Do you find that terrifying… or exciting? And what are you going to do about it?

9 Reasons To Believe In The Law Of Attraction

19/06/07 05:34 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
This is an interesting question. I guess on some level I have thought about it and know that I do believe in The Law of Attraction. But I have not really articulated it in any formal way. I am going to think about this one some more and come back to it.

But in the mean time read the post below, which triggered this whole chain of thought:

9 Reasons To Believe In The Law Of Attraction
by Gustav S

Why do I believe the Law of Attraction exists?

There are many reasons I have to believe that the Law of Attraction exists, for me it all started by looking for more information on about HOW can I exploit the laws of the universe for my own good. Here I am resuming what it will be extended in further posts:

1. Humans have a very important gift and that is Imagination, without Imagination the Law of Attraction could not exist. Without Dreams and desires the Law of Attraction could not exist.

2. As soon as I was aware of the Law of Attraction and disciplined myself to believe in it, have faith in it and also order my thoughts, dreams and expectation in the way I want them to happen, I immediately started to receive and SEE the “coincidences” (I would call them synchronicities) when my wishes were in the process of materialization.

3. I further researched in the fields of Remote Viewing and Remote Influencing with almost unbelievable results, what I found was without a doubt that consciousness exists and it is aware of everything in this Universe whether you use that skill or not.

4. I did discover the amazing power of INTENTION, Intention happens even before you are aware that you will intend something. I am very thankful for having discovered this when I was assisting a seminar for a medical product which was able to spot a disease that you will have in the near future.

5. Some actual scientific research in the Quantum field clearly shows that the Law of Attraction is perfectly attainable, because you the one who is looking for something and expecting something will get exactly the same result in the Quantum field as what you expect to see.

6. The movie “The Secret” is the perfect manifestation of what is possible when many “Law of Attraction” expert teachers gather. The Movie “The Secret” was a perfect success out of nowhere with almost no advertising budget. Can you imagine how this could have happened? A Miracle? I would call it Powered Wishes. Skeptics will say that is just viral or word of mouth, well my friend that is just one layer of the process of the law of attraction and you are interested in the lower level where everything starts, your mind.

7. I discovered that when I am grateful, when I let go, when I just trust then whatever I put in my mind it becomes a reality at the right time. For that I use my emotions and feelings, just as it is explained in Abraham-Hicks books, feelings are our GPS in order to know if we are aligned with our wishes and our goals.

8. Since the beginning of my experimentation with the Law of Attraction I have kept a dairy of all the wishes and thoughts I had in mind in order to assess in the future if they have become a reality or not. I can say that up to now almost all have become a reality and I keep doing that in order to keep track of it. If you are reading this blog now is because you are seeing one of my wishes coming true.

9. Creativity is at the very core of each soul, each person. You are driven to create experience. Creativity is also part of your service to the greater whole. As you create, you discover more of who you are through observing your creation. It is the very nature of the soul to be creative, but many of you have forgotten your creativity by believing that the ways in which you can express yourselves are limited to certain jobs, roles, and functions in life.

Good Vibrations - Getting Them and Keeping Them

19/06/07 05:18 PM Filed in: Law of Attraction
You know some of the things we do everyday can really impact how we feel and determine what we are attracting to ourselves. We need to have feeling great and being positive a habitual part of us.

Of course there are going to be days that really shock your system and put you in such a mood. I found a post that gives some sound advice on how to get your vibe back and keep them that way.

Post written by Shauna from breathingprosperity.com, see below for an excerpt:

  • Remember that you are always at CHOICE. Any time you experience an emotion or reaction that does not represent your highest vision of yourself or that goes against your intentions, first accept that you are human and that this is normal and OK. Then, use your personal power and do whatever it takes to get yourself out of the funk. This decision, above all the other steps, is what will make the biggest difference to your happiness and vibrations level on a daily basis.

  • Know what triggers you - both negative and postive. You can then try and avoid the negative when possible, and can use the positive ‘triggers’ to help you bounce back when you are feeling less than stellar.

  • Get back to basics. For many people, including me, there are simple things that always make them feel better. Whether it’s comfort food, calling a trusted friend, or spending time in natural surroundings, take good care of yourself both every day, and when you feel out of sorts.

  • Get moving. Exercise is one of the best - and quickest - ways I know of to feel great. Physical activity is sooo good for us on so many levels, both physically and mentally. Put on your sneakers and go for a walk if you do nothing else. Your body - and your cleared mind - will thank you! Then do it again tomorrow…

  • Don’t define yourself by your past choices - even those of five minutes ago. If you are feeling guilty for falling off the bandwagon - whether it’s quitting smoking, eating healthy, exercising or any goal you are working on - remember that your next choice can get you back on track. Focus on what are doing well, and keep going. No one is a robot and we all slip now and then…just keep going! Persistence is what makes for winning achievement, AND for high vibrations. As soon as you are back on track, you will feel great again, and that is what this is all about!

Top 10 Things Dr. Joe Vitale Does Everyday To Be Successful

18/06/07 01:20 PM Filed in: Secret Teachers
Here is an entertaining and educational post from The Secret teacher Dr. Joe Vitale's blog. He lists down the top 10 things he does everyday to be successful. I thought you would find it an interesting read.

His post has inspired me to review what I do everyday to be successful. I am going to make a list of my own.

1. Exercise.

I exercise 4 to 5 days a week. Weight-lifting is three days a week. Cardio/aerobics is two. I usually do this in the morning, after I've had enough coffee to awaken most of my body and alert it to the fact that we're about to move. Exercise is a great stress reducer as well as confidence builder. Plus burning off calories lets me consume some calories and not regret it. I work-out in my own gym, so I don't have far to walk to get there. Truth be known, I wish I didn't have to exercise. But I also know there's no healthy way around it. So I, as Nike advises, "Just do it."

2. E-mail.

I check e-mail all day long, but heavily in the morning. I do my best to answer important e-mails quickly, as if writing a short telegram where every word costs plenty. Since my business is largely Internet driven, taking care of urgent e-mails keeps me prosperous and customers happy. Since I'm in the movie The Secret, often these e-mails come from reporters or people wanting to set up interviews with me, so it's important I act on these right away. I answer most email faster than most autoresponders. I also have a couple of mentoring programs, such as Miracles Coaching, and I love receiving emails from people achieving new levels of success from this coaching. Donald Trump once wrote, "Email is for wimps." For me, it's for the successful.

3. Read.

It should come as no surprise to anyone who knows me that I read numerous books, many at one time, and throughout the day. I love books. I'm an admitted bookaholic. I rarely read fiction and can't get enough nonfiction in the areas of marketing, copywriting, publicity, advertising, spirituality, psychology, health, healing, hypnosis, mind power, new thought, muscle building, close-up magic, etc.

4. Write.

I'm always working on a new book. I have so many books out now that I can't remember them all, which means I can sometimes re-read one of my own books and be entertained, since it's new to me, too. Usually there is one book I am focusing on writing to the exclusion of all else. Right now I'm writing The Key: The Missing Secret to Attracting Whatever You Want, but I also have two other books to write and several more to promote. Focus gives me power. I write every day, either on a book, an email campaign, a blog post, a website, a news release, or an article for www.mrfire.com/ I even write blog posts from my Blackberry. I'm a writer, so I write. A lot.

5. Hot Tub

My Jacuzzi is the greatest investment of my life. I've never been so relaxed after being in it for just 30 minutes at 101 degrees. I now do this virtually every day. There's nothing like resting and revitalizing yourself so you can go back into the office and resume work. I think it's essential to meditate and relax, in some way, daily. If you're too busy to do this, then you really need to do this.

6. Gratitude

About six months ago I started smoking cigars. Not cigarettes with all their paper and additives; cigars. Say what you want, cigar smoking has become a type of gratitude meditation for me. I usually smoke a Cuban cigar outside, on the pool deck, in the evening. Sometimes I play one of my guitars, too. As I relax and look at the sky, I give gratitude for my life. I didn't always have a luxurious lifestyle. I was homeless thirty or so years ago. I am grateful to have survived it and grateful to be alive today. Life is good. Giving thanks makes it better. Watch my smoke.

7. I Love You.

Every day I spend time with Nerissa, our cats and dog, and feel the love. I've learned that the simple statement "I love you" can create miracles. "I love you" keeps the bliss alive. I explain this in my forthcoming book, Zero Limits. But I do this every day. I'm doing it right now. I'm silently saying I love you as I write this.

8. Planning.

Every evening I list what I will do the next day. But I do this in a unique way. I learned this method from Jerry and Esther Hicks. I make two lists. On one list I write the things I am scheduled to do, such as make calls, do an interview, turn in my tax records to my corporate accountants, etc. On the other list I write what I want the Universe to do. This may sound goofy, but the Divine (the Universe, God, Life, Tao, etc) will handle some of your bigger requests, if you simply ask. Again, this may seem gonzo to you, but it's my reality. Apparently, it works. I continue to do it. Have for years.

9. Research.

I visit very few websites, but those I do are essential to me. I visit Amazon every day. I'm always checking on how my babies (books) are doing, such as The Attractor Factor and my P.T. Barnum book. I'm always looking to see what new books Amazon suggests I get. I read a handful of blogs. I don't pay too much attention to the current news. I'm interested in trends, gadgets, new technology, health, healing, the Law of Attraction, etc. But my quick turbo-speed web surfing keeps me at least abreast of what's happening, so I can spot opportunities for new products, etc.

10. Nap.

I try to take a nap every afternoon. Sometimes being in the hot tub relaxes me so much that's it best to take a nap right after being in it. I need a nap to let my muscles recuperate from working-out. I also need a nap to let my mind refuel after writing and reading most of the day. I don't usually get a lot of sleep at night, so an afternoon nap keeps me sane, too.

Tell It Like Beckwith

18/06/07 12:14 PM Filed in: Secret Teachers | Law of Attraction
Here is an interview with Rev. Michael Beckwith conducted by Helen Gray.

Q. What is the most important thing people should know about their thoughts?

A. A thought is a unit of mental energy. A thought, because it is energy, cannot be created or destroyed, so it becomes our opinions, perceptions and beliefs, and those become our experiences. As individuals become aware of their thoughts and begin to become committed to real thinking, they can begin to change the course of their destiny. They can free themselves from victimhood.

Most people regurgitate the same thoughts every day. They are thinking the thoughts of someone else or rethinking their own thoughts. That is re-hashing. When a person is praying, meditating or engaging in some spiritual practice, new thoughts come forth. This is real thinking, and that would make you progress.

What is the key to happiness?

Happiness or joy is not based upon external conditions. They are based upon your inner joy and happiness. As an individual wakes up and feels a connection to joy and happiness as a way of life, conditions will shape themselves around what I call feeling tone. If you get around certain people, you can feel the tone of that person’s life. Events like the one at Unity I call tuning forks.

What is the main cause of unhappiness?

People are expecting something from the world, expecting people, places and things to bring them happiness. But you are here to bring your gifts to the world. … The problem with most people is they think the world will make them happy. The world is not set up for that. The best it can do is entertain.

You have everything within you — beauty, love, wisdom, transforming knowledge, intelligence, creativity, power, talents, gifts — all are within every individual. People think those things come from the world. But we are here to bring this to the world. Our happiness comes from us bringing these things to the world, not by trying to get them from the world.

How should people deal with situations that seemingly are beyond their control?

A problem represents thoughts or perceptions in people’s lives. So they have to go inside and see what that problem represents, then slowly shift their internal reference points to assist them in moving through that issue. There are different reasons for problems in people’s lives.

First, is what I call the Job factor. People are having a problem because they have a fear, which can be conscious or unconscious, and this becomes their experience.

Second, some people are going through issues because it is a life issue that they have invoked for themselves. Some are setting up lessons for themselves that will help them grow necessary qualities. When we look back on hard times, we can see where we grew from those experiences. Therefore, you may be in a learning process.

Third, there are certain people on the planet who are going through things because they are assisting the planet to advance spiritually. Some come to help the planet grow in love and compassion.

Fourth, as long as we as a society believe in scarcity, lack and disease, someone will experience that because that is the belief of the global society.

No one is a victim to circumstances. Everyone is a spiritual being and can find their way back to their divine origin and can live a life that is meaningful, authentic and powerful.
