Want To Whip The Competition – Read This First

02/07/07 06:27 PM
Wallace Wattles shares with us in his classic book The Science of Getting Rich the formula to achieving great wealth.

One of the key components of the formula is to possess a creative mindset rather than having a competitive one. Because by doing so you become more aligned with the forces that will attract your dreams and desires.

Wattles describes this alignment to be harmonious with the purpose of life, which is the further expansion and growth of life itself. That we are all here to create and not compete for what has already been created.

In today’s society it is clear to see why many would be on the competitive plane of thought. From childhood we are conditioned to see what is around us, the limited “visible supply”. We read and see the news of scarce resources; and how talented individuals in the competitive plane become very rich in the business world.

It is then this mindset of lack and limitation; and that riches are amassed by gaining at the expense of someone else, that Wattles describes as ultimately preventing these individuals from being truly rich.

Because by having these pre-dominant thoughts on the screen of their minds, it is also what they are attracting towards them. That sooner or later the Universe will create a situation where these riches will be taken away in the same manner they were obtained, by the competitive dealings of someone else.

Bob Proctor from the movie The Secret has an analogy, which describes this particular situation.

Imagine that you are having a marvelous pie for dessert. And the pie is cut into 8 pieces to serve to everyone at the table. The slice of pie is so good that you really want another piece. But by wanting more you are going to take a slice from somebody else.

Now in order to attract situations of true wealth we must be a creator. And by becoming and thinking as a creator you will get and attract what you want, but in such a way that when you get it, every other person will have more than he has now.

So back to the analogy, instead of taking pie away from someone else, to be on the creative plane, we need to think about making a bigger pie. Which then satisfies your need for more pie and at the same time providing more to everyone else.

Wattles explains that creation is always possible. We need not fear that the best of what we want or need has already been taken away from us. This is because the Universe is limitless and it can create the things or situations we need in order to obtain what we desire.

He asks that we just follow his formula, The Science of Getting Rich, for all who do, will create great wealth.

Summary Of The Science Of Getting Rich

25/06/07 05:07 PM
I wrote earlier about The Science of Getting Rich and how it was the inspiration for Rhonda Byrne's The Secret. I wanted to share the last chapter of the book with you. It summarizes the essence of the book in just one chapter.

THERE is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its
original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.

A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.

Man can form things in his thought, and by impressing his thought upon
formless substance can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.
In order to do this, man must pass from the competitive to the creative mind;
otherwise he cannot be in harmony with the Formless Intelligence, which is
always creative and never competitive in spirit.

Man may come into full harmony with the Formless Substance by entertaining a
lively and sincere gratitude for the blessings it bestows upon him. Gratitude
unifies the mind of man with the intelligence of Substance, so that man's
thoughts are received by the Formless. Man can remain upon the creative plane
only by uniting himself with the Formless Intelligence through a deep and
continuous feeling of gratitude.

Man must form a clear and definite mental image of the things he wishes to
have, to do, or to become; and he must hold this mental image in his thoughts,
while being deeply grateful to the Supreme that all his desires are granted to him.
The man who wishes to get rich must spend his leisure hours in contemplating
his Vision, and in earnest thanksgiving that the reality is being given to him. Too
much stress cannot be laid on the importance of frequent contemplation of the
mental image, coupled with unwavering faith and devout gratitude. This is the
process by which the impression is given to the Formless, and the creative forces
set in motion.

The creative energy works through the established channels of natural growth,
and of the industrial and social order. All that is included in his mental image
will surely be brought to the man who follows the instructions given above, and
whose faith does not waver. What he wants will come to him through the ways of
established trade and commerce.

In order to receive his own when it shall come to him, man must be active; and
this activity can only consist in more than filling his present place. He must keep
in mind the Purpose to get rich through the realization of his mental image. And
he must do, every day, all that can be done that day, taking care to do each act in
a successful manner. He must give to every man a use value in excess of the cash
value he receives, so that each transaction makes for more life; and he must so
hold the Advancing Thought that the impression of increase will be
communicated to all with whom he comes in contact.

The men and women who practice the foregoing instructions will certainly get
rich; and the riches they receive will be in exact proportion to the definiteness of
their vision, the fixity of their purpose, the steadiness of their faith, and the
depth of their gratitude.

What's The Science Of Getting Rich?

09/06/07 07:49 PM
By now most of you will know that The Secret was based on the book by Wallace Wattles, The Science of Getting Rich, written in the first decade of the 1900s. If you remember at the beginning of the movie Rhonda Byrne was given a green book by her daughter. That was The Science of Getting Rich!

Click Here to go to the Oprah Winfrey website to read Rhonda Byrne's story, where she explains how it all began with reading this classic book.

The book itself is quite amazing. I have read it a few times now and find it to be a very short book which is concise in its message (you could probably read it in a few hours).

If you haven't read it yet, I would recommend you getting it. I managed to get a free PDF version of the book (Click Here to get it. This site offers it for free as a bonus). But I also bought a copy from my local book store. I wanted a copy where I could highlight certain sentences in the book and continually refer to it.

One note, you will probably need to read it a few times. The English used in the book is classical in style, so you have to read the lines a few times to understand what Wallace is trying to get at, well I did.
